1. God promises to bless those who bless Israel and curses those who curse Israel

This popular if misguided assumption is based on Genesis 12:3. It shows how vital it is we allow Scripture to interpret Scripture. First, the original promise was made to Abram (that is Abraham) and no one else. Second, there is nothing in the promise to indicate God intended it be applied to Abraham’s physical descendants unconditionally, or in perpetuity. Third, in the New Testament we are told explicitly that the promises were fulfilled in Jesus Christ and in those who acknowledge Him as their Lord and Saviour. God’s blessings come by grace through faith, not by works or race (Ephesians 2:8-9).

Promise Fulfilment
“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.  I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you” (Genesis 12:2-3). The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ… There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, neither male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” (Galatians 3:16, 28-29)
“I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore… and through your seed all nations on earth will be blessed…” (Genesis 22:17-18)

2. The Jewish people are God’s “chosen people”

The assumption that the Jewish people are God’s “chosen people” is so deeply ingrained, to question it sounds heretical or anti-Semitic.  Yet both Hebrew and Christian Scriptures insist membership of God’s people is open to all races on the basis of grace through faith in Jesus Christ. In Isaiah 56, we see the Lord anticipate and repudiate the rise of an exclusive Israeli nationalism. In the New Testament the term “chosen” is used exclusively of the followers of Jesus, irrespective of race (See also Ephesians 2:14-16 and Colossians 3:11-12 concerning the unity of God’s people).

“It is not as though God’s word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children. On the contrary, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” In other words, it is not the natural children who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring.”

“Let no foreigners who have bound themselves to the LORD say, “The LORD will surely exclude me from his people.” … And foreigners who bind themselves to the LORD to minister to him, to love the name of the LORD, and to be his servants … who hold fast to my covenant—these I will bring to my holy mountain… for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.”” (Isaiah 56:3, 6-7) “Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.  Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” (Colossians 3:11-12 – see also 1 Peter 2:9-10)
 
3. The “Promised Land” was given by God to the Jewish people as an everlasting inheritance

Contrary to popular assumption, the Scriptures repeatedly insist that the land belongs to God and that residence is always conditional. For example, God said to his people, “‘The land must not be sold permanently, because the land is mine and you reside in my land as foreigners and strangers.” (Leviticus 25:23). In Ezekiel, it seems the Lord anticipated the reasoning of those who arrogantly claimed rights to the land because of the covenant made originally to Abraham.

“Son of man, the people living in those ruins in the land of Israel are saying, ‘Abraham was only one man, yet he possessed the land. But we are many; surely the land has been given to us as our possession.’  Therefore say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Since you eat meat with the blood still in it and look to your idols and shed blood, should you then possess the land? You rely on your sword, you do detestable things… Should you then possess the land?’ … I will make the land a desolate waste, and her proud strength will come to an end.’ (Ezekiel 33:24-26,28-29)
The scriptures insist, residence was open to all God’s people on the basis of faith not race. Indeed, the writer to Hebrews explains that the land was never their ultimate desire or inheritance any way. The land was only ever intended as a temporary residence until the coming of Jesus Christ.  Our shared eternal inheritance is heavenly not earthly.

“…the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets. This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.”
(Ephesians 3:4-6)

4. Jerusalem is the exclusive and undivided, eternal capital of the Jewish people

The Christian Zionist assertion that God intended Jerusalem to be the exclusive and undivided eternal capital of the Jewish people has no basis whatsoever in Scripture. As we have already seen, God insists in Psalm 87 that Jerusalem must be a shared and inclusive city. Nations specifically mentioned as having residence rights include those living in what is today, Egypt, Iran and Lebanon. Even the hated Philistines are mentioned as “…born in Zion” on the basis of faith not race.  Likewise, the vision of Isaiah 2 associates Jerusalem with the end of war, with peace and reconciliation between the nations.

“In the last days the mountain of the LORD’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills,  and all nations will stream to it. Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways,  so that we may walk in his paths.” (Isaiah 2:2-3)

The Old Testament vision of Jerusalem is of an international, shared, inclusive city of faith, hope and love. But what of Luke 21:24, “Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled”? Many Zionists like to think this prophecy came true in 1967. This is problematic since, Revelation 11:2 says the Gentile ‘trampling’ of Jerusalem would last only ’42 months’. The context of Luke 21 shows Jesus was referring to the events of 70AD and God’s sovereign use of foreign tyrants to fulfil his purposes (see Isaiah 63:3-6 for the meaning of ‘trampling’). It is more likely Jesus means deliverance will come at his return and not before. The focus of the New Testament instead moves away from the earthly Jerusalem toward the new, heavenly Jerusalem as the home of all who trust in Jesus (Hebrews 12:22-23; Revelation 21:2; 22-27).


5. The Jewish Temple must be rebuilt before Jesus returns 

Prophecy pundits like to quote Daniel 9 and Matthew 24 to suggest a future temple will be built and desecrated by the anti-Christ, before Jesus returns to Jerusalem in order to set up his kingdom.
The only problem is, Christian Zionists require a 2,000 year gap between Daniel 9:26 and 9:27 and between Jesus’ words in Matthew 24:1-2 and 24:15-16 in order to explain why, after the destruction of the temple in 70AD, another temple is needed.  But there is absolutely nothing in either text, or anywhere else in Scripture, to suggest a gap of 2,000 years, or that a future temple is predicted, let alone needed. Just the reverse – the old temple was declared redundant the moment Jesus died on the cross when the curtain was torn in two from top to bottom (Hebrews 1:3; 10:1-3, 11). The true and lasting temple is revealed to be the Lord Jesus himself and his followers.

“Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” They replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” But the temple he had spoken of was his body.” “Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household,  built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord.”

The true temple, therefore, is under construction. Quoting Old Testament temple imagery, the Apostle Peter writes, “you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 2:5-7)

6. Believers will soon be ‘raptured’ to heaven before the ‘end-time’ battle of Armageddon 

The rapture is a popular idea that Jesus will actually return twice: first of all secretly, to rescue true believers out of the world, then later visibly with his saints to judge the world. There is, again, no basis in Scripture for this novel idea. The Bible is emphatic: the return of Jesus will be personal, sudden, public, visible and glorious.

They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.  And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.” “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

The idea of a secret rapture is actually based on a misreading of Matthew 24:40-41 and Luke 17:34-35 where Jesus warns that one person will be taken and the other left behind. Rapture proponents insist it is the believers who will be taken and that unbelievers left behind. However, in the parable of the wheat and the tares in Matthew 13, Jesus provides the key to interpreting the later parable, “Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’” (Matthew 13:30).
So it will be unbelievers who are ‘taken’ first and believers who are ‘left behind’ to be with Christ.
However we understand the ambiguous apocalyptic language of Matthew 24, or Revelation, about the future, we must hold on to the clear promises of Jesus. He will never leave us nor forsake us (John 10:27-30; 14:14-27). The biblical vision of the future is of paradise restored and healing of the nations.
“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.” (Revelation 22:1-2)

Our mandate is to be peacemakers not widow makers (Matthew 5:3-10). We are ‘God’s co-workers’ entrusted as ambassadors with a ministry of reconciliation not speculation (2 Corinthians 5:11-6:2).


7. God has a separate plan for the Jewish people apart from the Church

Christian Zionists typically believe that God has a continuing covenant with Israel, separate from the Church. They usually base this on passages like Romans 9-11, although they invariably ignore the context. In Romans 2:28-29, for example, the Apostle Paul defines the word ‘Jew’.

“A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.” (Romans 2:28-29)

That is why in Romans 9, the term ‘Israel’ is limited to those who acknowledge the Lord Jesus.

In the letter to the Philippians, Paul explicitly identifies the church as the true ‘circumcision’ (Philippians 3:3). This is entirely consistent with the Old Testament, where, as we have already seen, citizenship of Israel was open to all ‘those who acknowledge me’ (Psalm 87:4). And here is the clue to understanding Romans 9-11. Of course God has not rejected the Jewish people. His covenant purpose for them, as with every other race, has always been ‘that they may be saved’ (Romans 10:1), to create one people for himself, made of both Jews and Gentiles (Romans 11:26). God’s covenant purposes are fulfilled only in and through Jesus Christ. This is most fully explained in Ephesians 2.

“Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” … remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.” (Ephesians 2: 11-16)

The following passages show that there is a harmony between God’s purposes for his Old Testament saints and for his New Testament saints – a clear continuity between Israel and the Church.

The most important question to reflect on is this: Does the New Testament teach that the coming of the Lord Jesus was the fulfilment or the postponement of God’s purposes for the Jewish people?

NATO mulls marriage with Israel

Israel wishes to participate in NATO’s future wars, judging by the content of a diplomatic cable released this week by WikiLeaks.

Dating from November 2009, the document from the American embassy in Tel Aviv summarizes a briefing given by Claudio Bisorgniero, NATO’s deputy-secretary general, during a visit to Israel.

Fresh from talks with Avigdor Lieberman, the Israeli foreign minister, Bisorgniero noted that Israel wishes to sign a status of forces agreement (SOFA) with the alliance. Such an accord lays down the rules covering a country’s troops when they are operating abroad.

The notion of a SOFA (a silly acronym) between Israel and the alliance has been advocated by the Zionist lobby for a few years now. Less than a fortnight before the cable was drawn up, the policy journal Europe’s World published an article by Matthew Mark Horn from the American Jewish Congress on Israel’s relations with NATO. He indicated that a status of forces accord would allow Israel join NATO operations more swiftly than it has to date. Horn, a former official in the US defense department, hinted at his frustration over how it took two years of negotiations before an Israeli officer could be posted to the headquarters of Operation Active Endeavor in Naples. Originally, that Mediterranean-patrol mission was part of NATO’s response to the atrocities on 11 September 2001; its remit has subsequently been expanded to serve a reactionary agenda of stopping impoverished foreigners from sailing to Europe.

“Sensitive”

Bisorgniero described Israel’s idea of a SOFA as “sensitive”, according to the cable. It could be problematic, he suggested, for NATO to conclude such an agreement with Israel, unless similar arrangements could be found with some Arab countries. Since 1994 NATO has been involved in a process called the Mediterranean dialogue with states neighboring members of the alliance. Along with Israel, those states are Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan and Mauritania. Israel has used this forum for dialogue to forge greater ties with the alliance than all of the others, however.

It is telling that the cable does not allude even once to Operation Cast Lead, Israel’s assault on Gaza in 2008 and 2009. NATO gave its tacit approval for that act of aggression earlier this year. When Gabi Ashkenazi, the Israeli military chief who oversaw Cast Lead, visited Brussels in January, he was treated to a farewell dinner to mark his imminent retirement as head of the world’s “most moral army.”

No guilt over massacres

Under Ashkenazi’s leadership, that army wiped out 22 members of the al-Dayah family — including 12 children and a pregnant woman — when it bombed the family’s Gaza home in early 2009. NATO commanders may be feeling a sense of affinity with Ashkenazi this month as they have tried to excuse an even bloodier massacre in Libya. On the night of 8 August, NATO attacked residential areas in Zliten, a city in the district of Misrata. According to the Libyan authorities, 85 people were killed. Thirty-three of them were children; 32 them of them women, some reports say.

Don’t feel bad if you have not heard of that massacre; it received scant attention in the Western press. The BBC’s Matthew Price visited the scene of the attack and admitted that he saw the corpses of women and children in the morgue. But he also sought to lend credence to the NATO narrative that it had struck a “legitimate target” (the words of its propagandist Roland Lavoie), where Gaddafi loyalists were sheltering. “The front line is not far away,” Price reported. “From the site, plumes of white smoke can be seen rising from where the fighting is taking place. It would make sense that soldiers would need somewhere to rest in the area.”

NATO’s killing of children does not elicit even the faintest pang of conscience among its commanders and their lackeys in the media. It would be logical, then, for NATO to make sure its flirtations with Israel lead to a proper marriage.

Brazilian Elites Call on Gov't to Cut Relations with Israel

TEHRAN (FNA)- Brazilian elites and citizens in a statement lashed out at the Zionist regime of Israel for massacring the defenseless Palestinian people, and urged their government to sever ties with the regime.


The statement which was issued by more than 150 Brazilian officials, academics and students as well as Muslims and citizens residing in the Latin American country, also stressed support for the oppressed Palestinian nation in their fight against the usurper Zionist regime.

The Brazilian elites and citizens also asked their government to annul all contracts with the Zionist regime, expel all Israeli companies from Brazil and downgrade its relations with the regime.

The statement was issued on the occasion of the International Quds Day (August 26) in support of the Palestinian nation.

On August 26, millions of people around the world took to the streets on the International Quds Day to voice support for the Palestinian nation against Israeli regime.

The International Quds Day was started by the late Founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini, in 1979 as a way of expressing solidarity with the Palestinians and underscoring importance of the holy Quds to Muslims.

International Quds Day is an annual event opposing Israel's occupation of Beitul-Muqaddas. Anti-Zionist rallies and demonstrations are held on the last Friday of Ramadan in Muslim and Arab countries around the world, and especially in Iran.

Protesters unanimously condemned Zionists' crimes in the occupied lands of Palestine.

Aren't Palestinians as responsible as their leader al-Hajj Amin Hussieni who collaborated with the Nazis during WW II?

Unfortunately, to the Palestinian people this question implies that they should pay the price for the collaboration of a single person with the Nazis! Although there were a minority of Palestinians who collaborated with the Nazis, a whole nation cannot pay the price for the choices of a few. It's not just that the Palestinian people (and most of the Arab countries as well) aided the allies with men and logistical support, they also ignored the call for Jihad, against the Allies, that was declared by al-Hajj Amin in April, 1941 (Righteous Victims, p. 165).

Since the Palestinian people were promised full independence in 1949, and strict limitation on Jewish immigration to Palestine, based on the 1939 White Paper, the Palestinian people had an incentive to help the Allies win the war. It should be noted that several Palestinian brigades were enlisted into the British Army, and the Palestinian resistance to the brutal British occupation almost completely ceased during and after WW II.

In general, the Palestinian people are proud of the fact that they were among the few who did not collaborate openly with Nazis. On the other hand, the peoples and governments of France, Italy, Japan, Romania, Croatia, Chechnya, Bulgaria, Switzerland, ... etc. all collaborated openly with the Nazis. Tragically, many of these peoples and governments happily pointed out their Jewish citizens to the Gestapo. So it's unfair, if not outright criminal, to exploit al-Hajj Amin's conduct in order to eternally condemn the Palestinian people as Nazis, while ignoring the choices made by most European peoples and governments who openly collaborated with the Nazis. At least the Palestinian people did not harbor nor cover up for Nazi war criminal as the US have done for decades, click here for details.

In that regard, it's worth noting that Josef Stalin, the Soviet premier and dictator, forcibly transferred the people of the Caucasus to Siberia as a collective punishment for their collaboration with the Nazis during WWII. However, the same people were allowed to return to their homes in 1958 when the scale of the war crime became known to Khruschev, Stalin's successor in the 1950s. If the people of the Caucasus were allowed to return to their homes under Communist rule, why can't the Palestinian refugees return to their homes under Israeli rule?

IRONICALLY, the shocking truth is that it has been proven that the Jewish Stern gang received funding and arms from the Italian Fascists to resist the British Mandate in Palestine. In fact, the Stern gang's collaboration with the Fascists and Nazis was going on while their Jewish brothers were being persecuted in Nazi concentration camps. It should also be noted that when the Americans, British, and their Arab allies were busy blocking the Desert Fox's (Erwin Rommel) advances in north Africa, the Stern gang's leader Yitzhak Shamir and the Irgun gang's leader Menachem Begin were busy ambushing British soldiers, blowing up the vital Haifa-Cairo railroad supply line, and terrorizing British and Palestinian civilians (Righteous Victims, p. 174). And when Yitzhak Shamir, Israel's future Prime Minister in the 1980s, was asked to explain their collaboration with the Fascists, he replied:
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend." (One Palestine Complete , p. 464).
Since these findings have only have only JUST started to surface lately (and are kept smothered in many Jewish communities), we feel it's necessary to directly quote one of the MOST pro-Israel historians, Martin Gilbert, who wrote:
"Avraham Stern who had formed a breakaway 'Irgun in Israel' movement (also known as the Stern Gang), tried to make contact with Fascist Italy in the hope that, if Mussolini were to conquer the Middle East, he would allow a Jewish State to be set up in Palestine. I am wondering if someone can clarify the issue of Palestinian soldiers fighting with the British Army. From what I read the "Palestinian Brigades" were also known as the "Jewish Brigades", so I am wondering if you are referring to them or to some other units I don't know of. I agree with the thrust of this article, but if there is an inaccuracy I feel it should be corrected.

On a side note regarding Bosnian Muslims, they were forbidden by their local clerics to assist the Nazis, and in order to recruit them the Nazis had to take the Grand Mufti there to convince them to sign up.

You finally get fed up."

Thomas also clarified that when she said the Jews should go back to Poland,Germany and America, that she was not referring to the concentration camps, but rather that "they should stay where they are because they’re not being persecuted—not since World War II, not since 1945."

However, when asked about the Holocaust, Thomas told the magazine that "there’s nothing wrong with remembering it [the Holocaust], but why do we have to constantly remember? We’re not at fault."

She then launched into criticism of Israel and its alleged oppression of the Palestinians, accusing the Jews of lacking introspection.

Also study the Haavara agreement also called the "Transfer Agreement". In this agreement started around 1933 the Zionist Jewish organizations operating in Germany freely and openly collaborated with the ruling Nazi party in Germany. The Zionist Jewish organizations agreed to pay money to have the Nazis in return provide transportation of German Jews to Palestine. Al-Husseini's only military role with the Nazis was forming a Bosnian Waffen SS unit of about 10,000 men to fight against Communist (Communism often equaled Jewish) partisans in the Balkans. This little Waffen SS militia recruited and organized by al-Husseini was against Bosnian (not Arab) and was fighting Communists partisans in the Balkans during WWII.

You also do a good job pointing out in your article that Husseini had was almost completely ignored that is why he ran away for some safety in Berlin. Husseini actually had the bravery to resist against the British Zionist controlled occupiers. Also on the comment list Gary makes a good point that after the war Husseini's relationship with the Nazis was considered of such little importance he wasn't even sought out by the Nuremburg show trial. The British army enlisted around 6,000 Palestinian Arab soldiers for the British military. Those critical of al-Hajj Amin Husseini should acquaint themselves with the circumstances and events that caused him to seek sanctuary in Hitler's Berlin, including being chased throughout the Middle East by the British for his role in the Palestinian resistance, e.g., the Great Rebellion of 1936. Nor should it be forgotten that following the war, his relationship with the Nazis was seen as being of such little consequence that he was never sought out by officials at Nuremberg. One can't say "never again" about the Shoah and allow things like Deir Yassin to happen. Unfortuantely, the Jewish suffering during the shoah is well known while the Palestinian experience during the al-Nakba has been kept from world scrutiny. How much collaboration existed between the Zionists and the Nazis during the war? Was the Shoah exacerbated by the Zionists failing to help their brothers in the hope for an Israeli state? Why aren't these things known? why is it so hard to find out about the Nakba and the Palestinian people? Why is one called anti-semitic if one criticises zionism? CAIRO, (PIC)– The Egyptian flag that was raised by young man Ahmed Al-Shahhat on the roof of Israel’s embassy in Cairo is still seen flying alone, according to eyewitnesses on Tuesday morning.
Earlier rumor had it that the Israeli flag was raised once again over the embassy next to the Egyptian flag.

For his part, governor of Asharqiya province Azzazi Azzazi decided to honor Egyptian young man Ahmed Al-Shahhat who removed Israel’s flag from its embassy in Cairo and replaced it with the Egyptian flag.

Azzazi said he would honor Shahhat in a ceremony held at the province headquarters, and pledged to give him a government job worthy of his stature as a national hero and an apartment for his intended marriage, according to news reports from Cairo.

In another context, grand imam of Al-Azhar mosque and university Ahmed Al-Tayeb warned Israel of the Egyptian people’s wrath, stressing they can no longer tolerate its criminal actions and its constant disrespect of all agreements and international resolutions.

Tayeb hailed the Egyptian youth for their revolutionary spirit and their rejection of Israel’s aggression against Egypt and demanded the Arab leaders to respond to the will of their peoples and help them to get their legitimate rights.

Nunu: We won’t accept killing to continue while calm being enforced

GAZA, (PIC)-- Taher Al-Nunu, the Gaza government’s spokesman, has held the Israeli occupation authority fully responsible for the consequences of its military escalation over the past few hours that killed and wounded dozens of citizens.

Nunu told the Aqsa radio station at dawn Thursday, “We won’t accept killing to continue while calm is being enforced”, adding that the Palestinian people know how to deal with such a situation and to defend itself.

He said that intensified contacts were underway between his government and the parties that brokered the calm mentioning in particular Egypt and the UN to brief them about the Israeli escalation and to tell them that the situation was not accepted and should come to an immediate end.
Nunu said that consultations were also made with Palestinian factions to consider means of dealing with the situation at hand.

The Palestinian foreign ministry in a statement on Wednesday strongly denounced the Israeli violation of the calm, charging that the escalation indicated that the IOA was not interested in preserving calm and was intent on fueling tension.

It asked the world community topped by the UN to pressure the IOA into halting its aggression.
Hamas MP Ismail Al-Ashqar said that resistance factions are entitled to retaliate to the IOA attacks.
He told the same radio station also at dawn Thursday that the attacks reflected the “bloodthirsty mentality of occupation”, adding that Israeli practices were a threat to international peace.

United Nations urged to condemn Israel’s detention of Palestinian reporters

RAMALLAH, (PIC)– The Palestinian Institute for Communications and Development has called on the the world community to condemn Israel’s recent violations of press freedoms as five Palestinian reporters remain in Israeli custody.

The calls come after Israel’s Salem military court extended the detention of Al-Jazeera reporter Samer Allawi, 46, the day after the arrest of two more reporters in the occupied West Bank.
Allawi, who heads Al-Jazeera’s Afghanistan bureau, was arrested last week during a visit to his family in Sabastea near Nablus in northern West Bank.

The other West Bank reporters recently arrested by Israel include Useid Amarina, 26, who works for Al-Aqsa Channel, Amir Abu Arafah, a reporter for the local Shehab agency, Mohammed Bisharat, 25, and Nawwaf al-Amer, a program coordinator for Al-Quds Channel.

Amer has been placed in administrative detention and is being held without charges.

In the Gaza Strip, a violent Israeli air strike on civilian structures caused major damage to government and non-governmental organizations. Among those hit was the Gaza office of China’s Xinhua News Agency.

Report: Israel to take measures against Qatar

TEL AVIV, Israel (Ma’an) -- Israel is ready to implement measures against Qatar for supporting the Palestinian UN bid for recognition in September, Israeli newspaper Maariv reported Thursday.

Israeli authorities are reportedly thwarting all Qatari funded projects in Palestine and have closed their diplomatic mission in Qatar, Maariv said.

Qatari officials have also been forbidden to enter the West Bank or Israel.

Qatar also has strong relations with Hamas, Maariv reported Israeli officials as saying.

RAMALLAH (Ma’an) — Dozens of Israeli settlers set fire on Thursday to more than 100 olive trees in Mikhmas village southeast of Ramallah.

Local witnesses told Ma’an that settlers from the illegal Ma’ale Mikhmas settlement adjacent to the village set fire to agricultural land before vacating the area.
The Mikhmas village council condemned the attacks and called for support in protecting land from settler violence.

A report by the Palestinian Authority found that settler violence increased “dramatically” in June 2011, documenting 139 attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank and the destruction of over 3,600 olive trees and vineyards.

Annual figures compiled by Israeli rights group Yesh Din have repeatedly shown that nine out of 10 police investigations about settler crimes fail to lead to a prosecution

Iran pledges to support Palestinians

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has pledged the Islamic Republic's enduring support for the Palestinian cause, urging a united regional front against Israel.


“The cause of al-Quds (Jerusalem) and the support for resistance will never be taken off the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” said President Ahmadinejad in an interview with the Lebanese-based al-Manar TV, quoted by the presidential website on Wednesday.

“The Zionist regime is tasked with creating constant instability in the region in order to pave the way for the presence and interference of hegemonic powers in the area. Therefore, to confront this regime would be to confront the hegemonic system and the world's oppressors and enslavers,” he added.

The Iranian chief executive further said that the issue of al-Quds is a global one and as such controlling the core issue to the Muslim world is of ultimate significance.

President Ahmadinejad also pointed out that any nation who supports humanity needs “to seek the disappearance of the Zionist regime (Israel) as the global symbol of oppression and discrimination.”

He underlined the need for a united regional front against the US and Israel and warned regional countries against following in the footsteps of the enemy.

He went on to say that Israel was established based on materialism, and represented all the hegemonic powers that seek to run the world through “chicanery and egotism”.

Regarding Palestinians' efforts to gain the UN recognition for a Palestinian state according to the 1967 borders, President Ahmadinejad said the Palestinian state already exists, but the hegemonic system has been trying to replace it with a fake regime.

He stated that Iran has always believed that the Palestinian land belongs to Palestinians, but added that the Islamic Republic supports the formation of a Palestinian government.

This comes as Muslims all across the world are expected to take part in the International Quds Day rallies on Friday to voice their support for Palestinians.

Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, designated the last Friday of Ramadan as the International Quds Day, during which Muslims across the world hold rallies to show their solidarity for Palestinians.

According to Dershowitz, “I, for one, do not question his motives. I believe they are genuine. One need not accept all of Beck’s positions on Israel– and I certainly do not – in order to agree with him that support of Israel is one of the great moral issues of the 21st Century.”
