GAZA, (PIC)-- Taher Al-Nunu, the Gaza government’s spokesman, has held the Israeli occupation authority fully responsible for the consequences of its military escalation over the past few hours that killed and wounded dozens of citizens.

Nunu told the Aqsa radio station at dawn Thursday, “We won’t accept killing to continue while calm is being enforced”, adding that the Palestinian people know how to deal with such a situation and to defend itself.

He said that intensified contacts were underway between his government and the parties that brokered the calm mentioning in particular Egypt and the UN to brief them about the Israeli escalation and to tell them that the situation was not accepted and should come to an immediate end.
Nunu said that consultations were also made with Palestinian factions to consider means of dealing with the situation at hand.

The Palestinian foreign ministry in a statement on Wednesday strongly denounced the Israeli violation of the calm, charging that the escalation indicated that the IOA was not interested in preserving calm and was intent on fueling tension.

It asked the world community topped by the UN to pressure the IOA into halting its aggression.
Hamas MP Ismail Al-Ashqar said that resistance factions are entitled to retaliate to the IOA attacks.
He told the same radio station also at dawn Thursday that the attacks reflected the “bloodthirsty mentality of occupation”, adding that Israeli practices were a threat to international peace.
