Brazilian Elites Call on Gov't to Cut Relations with Israel

TEHRAN (FNA)- Brazilian elites and citizens in a statement lashed out at the Zionist regime of Israel for massacring the defenseless Palestinian people, and urged their government to sever ties with the regime.

The statement which was issued by more than 150 Brazilian officials, academics and students as well as Muslims and citizens residing in the Latin American country, also stressed support for the oppressed Palestinian nation in their fight against the usurper Zionist regime. The Brazilian elites and citizens also asked their government to annul all contracts with the Zionist regime, expel all Israeli companies from Brazil and downgrade its relations with the regime. The statement was issued on the occasion of the International Quds Day (August 26) in support of the Palestinian nation. On August 26, millions of people around the world took to the streets on the International Quds Day to voice support for the Palestinian nation against Israeli regime. The International Quds Day was started by the late Founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini, in 1979 as a way of expressing solidarity with the Palestinians and underscoring importance of the holy Quds to Muslims. International Quds Day is an annual event opposing Israel's occupation of Beitul-Muqaddas. Anti-Zionist rallies and demonstrations are held on the last Friday of Ramadan in Muslim and Arab countries around the world, and especially in Iran. Protesters unanimously condemned Zionists' crimes in the occupied lands of Palestine.
