THE GREATEST THREAT TO ISRAEL IS AN EXPRESSION OF LOVE FOR PALESTINE

Israel wants you to hate the very people they claim do not even exist. Israel will not allow you to express love for those people.

The American Boat To Gaza was ‘armed’ with expressions of that love in the thousands from American citizens. To Israel, this was a dangerous ‘cargo’, possibly even one they can call ‘explosive’. Those on board the ship were definitely a dangerous lot, mostly retired folks, Jews, and even an 86 year old holocaust survivor …. most definitely a group not to allow entrance to Gaza.

 

Doesn’t Israel realise how stupid they look for stopping these boats? Don’t they realise that by their actions the Flotilla was a huge success without ever reaching the shores of Gaza. The million and a half imprisoned residents of the Strip are aware of the expressions of love that were aboard. Knowing that they are not alone in their struggle to end the siege is a victory in itself, as well as knowing that the Israeli offensive will not stop further Flotillas from attempting to reach them in the near future. They will not stop till all of Palestine is free.

IDF launches probe over YouTube video; army officials say incident appears to be grave

A video posted on YouTube Wednesday shows an IDF officer cocking his weapon and aiming it at the head of a Palestinian civilian during military operations in a West Bank village.

While the video does not show whether the officer's weapon was loaded, IDF officials admitted that on the face of it the incident appears to be grave, adding that a Military Police investigation has been launched.

The video, filmed last month, shows the Israeli officer yelling at Rabi Abu Maria and aiming a rifle at his head twice. The incident followed after Abu Maria's cousin was detained by IDF troops.

The arrest took place on June 18th and soldiers did not face resistance from local residents. Following the arrest, the suspect's relatives surrounded the soldiers and asked them for the reason of detainment. The officer shown in the video ordered them to leave, before aiming his weapon at Abu Maria.

Abu Maria recounted the incident in a conversation with Ynet: "I'm a taxi driver and I was next to a gas station. I saw my cousin who works at the station being detained, and I told the troops I only wish to say goodbye to him. The officer got upset at me and aimed his weapon at my head, saying 'why do you care, go away.'"
The Palestinian man told Ynet that since the incident he has been having trouble returning to the site and is no longer able to drive his cab. "I don't understand why they did it to me. I'm just a person who wishes to live, with a wife and four children. My wife is also scared after a weapon was aimed at her husband, and the children aren't doing too well either."

'Other officers not like that'  

Abu Maria stressed that the incident he encountered was an exception.
"There are plenty of officers who talk to us with respect and in a proper manner. I don't know why this officer behaves this way," he said.
Another local resident, Issa al-Salib, said that relatives of the detained man asked the soldiers questions but did not interrupt in their work. He too stressed that the officer's conduct was anomalous and does not characterize the behavior of other soldiers in the area.

"We've been having arguments with the soldiers, but they don't end like that," he said. "He's not normal, there's something wrong with him. He's overcome by hatred. This soldier's behavior is known as particularly provocative, and ever since he arrived in the area two months ago we suffer greatly."
On Friday, local residents are planning to hold a protest at the entrance to their village following the soldier's conduct. "The army can't give such person arms and authority at such a sensitive location," al-Salib said.
Responding to the incident, the IDF Spokesman's Office issued the following statement: "On the face of it, it appears to be a grave incident. This incident was brought to the attention of commanders, and at the same time it was decided to launch a Military police investigation into it."

Sebuah video yang diposting di YouTube Rabu kemarin (20/7) menunjukkan seorang perwira IDF memoncongkan senjatanya ke kepala seorang warga sipil Palestina selama operasi militer di sebuah desa di Tepi Barat.

Video itu sendiri tidak menunjukkan apakah senjata petugas itu berisi, namun para pejabat IDF mengakui bahwa raut wajah dari insiden itu tampaknya serius, menambahkan bahwa penyelidikan Polisi Militer telah diluncurkan atas insiden ini.

Video, yang difilmkan bulan lalu, menunjukkan perwira Israel berteriak kepada Abu Maria dan mengarahkan senapan di kepalanya dua kali. Insiden ini terjadi menyusul setelah sepupu Abu Maria ditahan oleh pasukan IDF.

Penangkapan berlangsung pada 18 Juni dan tentara Israel tidak menghadapi perlawanan dari penduduk setempat. Setelah penangkapan, kerabat tersangka mengelilingi para prajurit dan meminta mereka untuk membrikan alasan penahanan. Petugas yang ditunjukkan dalam video memerintahkan mereka untuk pergi, sebelum akhirnya mengarahkkan senjatanya kepada Abu Maria.

Abu Maria menceritakan kejadian itu dalam percakapan dengan Ynet: "Saya seorang sopir taksi dan saya di sebelah pom bensin ketika saya melihat sepupu saya yang bekerja di pom bensin itu ditahan, dan saya mengatakan kepada pasukan saya hanya ingin mengatakan selamat tinggal kepadanya. Petugas marah pada saya dan mengarahkan senjatanya di kepala saya."

Warga Palestina itu mengatakan kepada Ynet bahwa sejak kejadian itu ia telah mengalami kesulitan kembali ke pom bensin tersebut dan tidak lagi mampu mengendarai taksinya. "Saya tidak mengerti mengapa mereka melakukannya kepada saya. Saya hanya seseorang yang berharap untuk hidup, dengan seorang istri dan empat anak. Istri saya juga takut setelah senjata itu ditujukan kepada suaminya.

"Ada banyak petugas yang berbicara kepada kita dengan hormat dan dengan cara yang tepat. Saya tidak tahu mengapa perwira ini berperilaku seperti ini," katanya.(fq/ynet)

Report: Israeli killed in New Zealand earthquake was Mossad agent

Local media reports Ofer Mizrahi, killed in the Christchurch earthquake in February, was part of a team trying to infiltrate sensitive computer systems.

New Zealand security officials suspect Israeli Mossad agents were trying to obtain sensitive information from the state's databases, reported the local Southland Times newspaper on Tuesday. Authorities suspect that one of the agents was Ofer Mizrahi, one of three Israelis killed in the earthquake in the city of Christchurch last February.
Authorities have launched an investigation into what a senior security official called "suspicious activities of several groups of Israelis during and immediately after the earthquake."

There was extensive local media coverage of the search teams that were sent from Israel after the earthquake. The two private search parties were sent without prior coordination with officials in Jerusalem, and were met with difficulties after the local authorities prevented them from searching in the area.

The report claims Israel's reaction to the casualties and missing Israeli citizens was unprecedented. For example, Prime Minister John Key, who is Jewish, spoke with his counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu four times the day of the earthquake. The report also claims that Israeli ambassador Shemi Tzur , who is posted in the capital Wellington, immediately ordered plane tickets to Christchurch. Furthermore, Home Front Defense Minister Matan Vilnai also left immediately for the disaster-struck city.

The three Israelis who survived the car crash that killed Mizrai fled the scene and left him behind, the report continues, saying Mizrahi had five passports. New Zealand security services suspected he was a Mossad agent after the Israeli search party took interest in his many passports and after his three friends' quick departure back to Israel. Security services also took note that a Facebook page set up in remembrance of Mizrahi has only five "likes."

Shemi Tzur, the Israeli ambassador in Wellington, denied the allegations and dismissed them as "science fiction."

Op-ed: Iceland’s government has been showing considerable arrogance toward Israel

With his visit to the Palestinian Authority, Gaza, Jordan and Egypt last week, Ossur Skarphedinsson, the Social Democratic Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iceland, came to put his two cents into the Middle Eastern debate.
Skarphedinsson enhanced his country’s relations with the Palestinians and promised them Iceland’s support in their bid for statehood at the next United Nations General Assembly. He studiously avoided any diplomatic contact with Israel on that trip. Earlier this month, the Icelandic Birgitta Jonsdottir was the first parliamentarian of any country to visit participants of the failed second Gaza flotilla.
Iceland is a country with a population of about 320,000, just a little more than the city of Haifa. It received much international publicity when its three major banks collapsed in 2008. Creditors abroad lost tens of billions of dollars. The country’s Financial Supervisory Authority had dramatically failed in its task. Last year, not through any fault of its own, Iceland once again received major publicity when ash clouds from an eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano caused major disturbances in European air traffic.
Besides that, one hears little about Iceland in Israel. Relations between the two countries under the present left-wing government of Iceland are plainly bad. This finds expression in many ways. At the previous UN General Assembly, Iceland’s foreign minister spoke out against Israel. When FM Lieberman wrote to him on this issue, Skarphedinsson did not answer. He did not even confirm receipt of Lieberman’s letter. Skarphedinsson also ordered Icelandic diplomats to remain in the hall while Iranian President Ahmadinejad spoke at the Durban review conference in Geneva in 2009. Diplomats from almost all other European countries left.
Iceland’s government shows considerable arrogance toward Israel. Skarphedinsson represents a country that has caused huge financial damage abroad. Yet he believes that he should tell sovereign Israel how it should run its affairs. On his recent visit he requested that Israel unconditionally abandon its maritime blockade on Gaza. He also condemned Israel’s defensive actions during the first flotilla. Moreover, the Icelandic Parliament condemned Israel and some members suggested placing sanctions on the Jewish state or even breaking off relations with it. When the Olmert government sent Minister Yuli Tamir to Europe during the Gaza Cast Lead war, Iceland refused to receive her.

Unimpressive history

Iceland does not have much to be proud about regarding its historical behavior toward Jews. Few Jews live in the country. In the past, there have only been Jewish communities established at times when there were either British or American troops stationed in Iceland with a substantial number of Jewish soldiers among them.

Iceland’s anti-Semitic history has been studied by the only expert on the country’s attitude toward Jews, Vilhjálmur Örn Vilhjálmsson, who lives in Denmark. In an essay published in my book, Behind the Humanitarian Mask: The Nordic Countries, Israel and the Jews, he notes that the first “Jew” who came to Iceland in 1625 was a Christian convert from Copenhagen. During that same century, an Icelandic clergyman Hallgrimur Pétursson composed a wide selection of hymns. In these hymns, Jews are mentioned more than 50 times, yet only for their “perfidy, falseness, wickedness and other malice.”
In the 1930s, a few Jewish refugees tried to escape to Iceland, several of them in vain. Some of the female refugees were allowed to stay because they married Icelanders.
At the end of the 1980s, Efraim Zuroff, Director of the Israel branch of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, tried to have war criminal Evald Mikson prosecuted. Mikson had been involved in the murder of Jews in his native Estonia. He found refuge in Iceland, where his sons played in the national soccer team. Zuroff’s justified claims against an accomplice of murderers led to many Icelandic media attacks toward Israel. It took until 1993 before the Icelandic government set up a commission to investigate Mikson’s war crimes. Mikson, however, died shortly afterwards. Only after his death did the investigators find that he had indeed committed atrocities.
When this issue was debated in parliament, some of its members felt compelled to make comments on the Middle East and Israeli political attitudes. One of these was Olafur Grimsson, leader of the People’s Alliance, a left-wing party. He spoke about the Israeli “murder” of Hezbollah leader Abbas Musawi and of Israeli attacks on southern Lebanese towns. Grimsson has been President of Iceland since 1996. As a curious aside - in 2003, he married an Israeli woman.

Another ignoble act by Iceland was its 2005 decision to grant citizenship to the rabid anti-Semite of Jewish ancestry, former world chess champion Bobby Fischer, who was detained in Japan at the time.
One may wonder what motivated the Foreign Minister of Iceland, with its small population and poor international record, to come to the Middle East and behave as he did. Is it just plain egotism, for which Skarphedinsson is well-known in Iceland? Is it because he represents a left-wing government? Or perhaps because Iceland endeavours to become a non-permanent member of the Security Council after its failed bid in the 2008 elections? For this it would need the many votes of Muslim countries.
